Minecraft is an open-world game that allows you to explore and create your own world. One of the most popular features in the game is the ability to travel between different dimensions using portals. There are a few different types of portals in Minecraft, each with its own unique requirements and functions. In this guide, we’ll go over how to make all of the different types of portals in Minecraft.
- Nether Portal
The Nether Portal is the most common type of portal in Minecraft, and it’s used to travel to the Nether dimension. To make a Nether Portal, you’ll need at least 10 obsidian blocks. You can obtain obsidian by pouring water over lava source blocks. The portal needs to be a minimum of four blocks wide and five blocks tall. The corners of the portal must also be filled with obsidian.
To activate the portal, use flint and steel on the bottom of the portal blocks. Once activated, you’ll see a purple shimmering portal that you can jump into to travel to the Nether.
- End Portal
The End Portal is used to travel to the End dimension, which is where the Ender Dragon boss resides. The End Portal requires a bit more work to create than the Nether Portal. To make an End Portal, you’ll need to find a stronghold in the Overworld. Strongholds are found underground, and they contain an End Portal Room where the End Portal can be found.
The End Portal is created by placing Eyes of Ender in each of the 12 frame blocks surrounding the portal. Once all the Eyes of Ender are in place, the portal will activate and create a shimmering purple portal that you can jump into to travel to the End.
- End Gateway
The End Gateway is a portal that appears after defeating the Ender Dragon in the End. It’s used to travel to the outer End islands where you can find new resources and challenges. To activate the End Gateway, you’ll need to place four End Crystals on the corners of the portal frame. The End Crystals can be crafted with a Ghast Tear, Glass, and an Eye of Ender.
The Overworld Portal is a custom portal that can be created using mods or plugins. It allows players to travel to custom dimensions created by mods or plugins. The requirements for creating an Overworld Portal will depend on the mod or plugin being used.
